Suggested Use
Aciclovir Cold Sore Cream is used for:
- Treatment of Cold Sores: Effective against lesions caused by the herpes simplex virus, particularly during the initial tingling or itching stage.
- Symptom Relief: Helps relieve pain, itching, and discomfort associated with cold sores.
Dosage:
- Adults and Children (12 years and older):
- Apply a small amount of cream to the affected area 5 times daily, approximately every 4 hours, omitting the night-time application.
- Start treatment as soon as the first signs of a cold sore appear (e.g., tingling or itching).
- Continue treatment for 5 days. If the sore has not completely healed, treatment may be extended up to 10 days.
- Instructions for Use:
- Wash your hands before and after application to prevent spreading the infection.
- Avoid touching or scratching the cold sore area to prevent contamination.
- Do not apply on mucous membranes (e.g., inside the mouth or nose).
Warning
- Do Not Use If:
- You are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, or any other ingredients in the cream.
- The affected area is severely infected or oozing pus.
- Precautions:
- For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes.
- Consult a doctor if cold sores persist for more than 10 days or worsen during treatment.
- Use only as directed and avoid overuse.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
- Consult a healthcare professional before using during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Side Effects:
- Mild stinging or burning sensation at the application site (temporary).
- Redness, itching, or dry skin at the treated area.
- Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling.
- Storage:
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
