Aciclovir 400mg Tablets are antiviral medication developed to manage infections caused by herpes viruses.They work by slowing the growth and spread of the virus, allowing the body to fight the infection effectively.Active Substance: Aciclovir 400mg per tablet.

Suggested Use
Aciclovir 400 mg Tablets are indicated for:
- Treatment of primary and recurrent genital herpes.
- Management of herpes zoster (shingles).
- Treatment of chickenpox (varicella) in immunocompromised patients.
- Suppression of recurrent herpes simplex infections in immunocompetent individuals.
- Prophylaxis against HSV infections in immunocompromised patients.
Dosage:
Adults and Adolescents:
- Genital Herpes (Initial Episode): 400mg orally 3 times daily (every 8 hours) for 7–10 days.
- Recurrent Genital Herpes (Suppression): 400mg orally 2 times daily (every 12 hours).
- Shingles (Herpes Zoster): 800mg orally 5 times daily (every 4 hours while awake) for 7 days.
- Chickenpox (Varicella): 800mg orally 4 times daily for 5 days.
Children:
- Chickenpox:
- 6 years and older: 800mg orally 4 times daily for 5 days.
- 2–5 years: 400mg orally 4 times daily for 5 days.
Elderly and Renal Impairment:
- Dosage adjustment may be necessary. Consult with a healthcare professional.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to aciclovir or any of the tablet’s excipients.
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment; dose adjustments may be required.
- Maintain adequate hydration to prevent kidney damage, especially in elderly patients or those on high doses.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor.
- Rarely, aciclovir can cause dizziness; avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.
- Long-term or repeated use can lead to decreased effectiveness or resistance in viral infections.
Side Effects:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, fatigue.
- Rare: Allergic reactions, confusion, dizziness, kidney problems, and rash.
