Precautions: Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. systemic lupus erythromatosus. renal impairment. children and pregnant women.
Indications/Uses: Rickettsial, mycoplasma, borrelial, chancroid and brucella infections. infections by susceptible organisms when other antibiotics are not suitable; 500 qds, on empty stomach with plenty of water.
Interactions: Decreased absorption: milk, antacids, minerals. may increase effect of warfarin and decrease effect of penicillins & oral contraceptives
Side Effects: Dizziness. gastro-intestinal upset. diarrhoea. dysphagia. hypersensitivity reactions. photosensitivity. colitis. discolouration of teeeth in children.
