Natrixam 1.5mg/10mg is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains two active substances: indapamide and amlodipine. The medication is available in the form of modified-release tablets, which means it releases the active ingredients slowly over time to provide a longer-lasting effect. Active Substances: Indapamide: 1.5 mg and Amlodipine: 10 mg (equivalent to 13.87 mg of amlodipine besilate)
Anti-Hypertensives
Suggested Use
Natrixam is indicated as a substitution therapy for patients who are already stabilized on indapamide and amlodipine taken separately at the same dosage. It is specifically formulated for those who require ongoing management of hypertension.
Dosage:
- The recommended dosage for adults is one tablet daily, preferably taken in the morning. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water and not chewed or crushed.
- If a dose is missed, patients should skip it and continue with their regular schedule; they should not take a double dose to compensate.
Warning
- Contraindications: Natrixam should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to indapamide or amlodipine, severe renal impairment, hepatic insufficiency, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, swelling in the ankles or feet, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Patients should be monitored for potential electrolyte imbalances due to the diuretic effect.
- Special Precautions: Caution is advised in elderly patients or those with liver problems, as amlodipine clearance may be reduced. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is essential while on this medication.
- Driving and Operating Machinery: Natrixam may have a minor to moderate effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery due to potential dizziness or fatigue.
