Imuran 50mg Tablets are used to:
- Prevent organ rejection in kidney, liver, and heart transplant patients.
- Treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis).
Dosage:
The dosage of Imuran 50mg Tablets varies depending on the condition being treated. It will be personalized by the healthcare provider based on the specific condition being treated.
Warning
- Chronic immunosuppression with Imuran increases the risk of malignancy, including post-transplant lymphoma and hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma.
- Increased risk of infections due to immunosuppression. Monitor for signs of infection and seek medical attention if symptoms occur.
- Risk of severe leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anaemia. Regular blood tests are recommended to monitor blood cell counts.
- Monitor liver function regularly. Discontinue use if severe liver toxicity occurs.
- Consult a healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Imuran can harm an unborn baby and passes into breast milk.
- Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, and hair loss. Serious side effects may include severe allergic reactions, liver damage, and increased risk of infections.
