Exforge HCT is a mixed medication that helps control high blood pressure. By lowering blood pressure, it helps prevent serious heart-related events like strokes and heart attacks. The active substances in it are Amlodipine (10 mg), Valsartan (160 mg), and Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg).

Suggested Use
Exforge HCT is indicated for:
- Treatment of hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on a dual combination of any two of the active components: amlodipine, valsartan, or hydrochlorothiazide.
- Reducing the risk of heart complications and improving heart health by managing high blood pressure effectively.
Dosage may be adjusted by a healthcare provider based on blood pressure response and tolerability. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Warning
- Avoid use if allergic to any of the active ingredients (amlodipine, valsartan, or hydrochlorothiazide) or similar medications.
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Use with caution in patients with severe kidney or liver disease, as this medication may need adjustment or monitoring.
- Hydrochlorothiazide may cause imbalances in electrolytes (e.g., low potassium or magnesium). Regular blood tests may be needed to monitor these levels.
- Avoid excessive use of alcohol or exposure to heat, as these may lead to dehydration and exacerbate side effects.
- Exforge HCT can cause dizziness or light-headedness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
- Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, as Exforge HCT may interact with other drugs, especially NSAIDs, lithium, and other blood pressure medications.
- Common: Dizziness, fatigue, headache, low blood pressure, increased urination.
- Serious: Swelling (particularly of the hands, feet, or face), irregular heartbeat, severe dehydration, vision changes. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
