Epilim 100mg Crushable Tablets are primarily used for:
- Treating epilepsy in adults and children, specifically for generalized seizures, focal seizures, and other seizure types.
- Managing bipolar disorder in adults by stabilizing mood swings.
Dosage – Epilepsy Treatment:
Children (Based on Weight): Dosage is determined by body weight and condition.
For patients with swallowing difficulties, tablets can be crushed and mixed with a small amount of food or drink.
Note: Always follow the dosage prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Warning
- Sodium valproate can affect liver function, especially during the first 6 months. Regular liver function tests are advised.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended due to potential harm to the fetus and risks for newborns. Women of childbearing age should use effective contraception.
- Risk of serious, sometimes fatal pancreatitis. Seek immediate medical help if symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur.
- Antiepileptic drugs, including sodium valproate, may increase suicidal thoughts or behaviour. Report any mood changes to a healthcare provider.
- Inform your doctor if you are taking other medications, particularly those for mental health, as there may be interactions.
