Suggested Use
- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), helping to reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
- Management of heart failure by improving heart function and symptoms.
- Can be used to prevent complications in patients with asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction, a condition where the heart has reduced pumping ability but no symptoms.
Dosage:
- Adults: The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. Depending on response and tolerance, the dose may be increased to a maintenance dose of 10-20 mg once daily or in divided doses. The maximum dose should not exceed 40 mg per day.
- Heart Failure: The starting dose is usually 2.5 mg once daily, which may be gradually increased to 20 mg daily in divided doses based on clinical response.
- Elderly Patients: Dose adjustments may be needed based on kidney function and clinical response.
- Children (6 years and older): Dose and usage are based on body weight and will be determined by a physician.

Warning
- Some may experience severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, or throat, and should discontinue use and seek medical attention.

- This medication may increase potassium levels in the blood; caution is needed with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics.
- Enalapril may cause low blood pressure, especially after the first dose or if dehydrated. Patients should avoid standing up quickly to prevent dizziness.
- Enalapril should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it may harm the baby.
- Inform doctors if you are undergoing surgery, as Enalapril can interact with certain anaesthetics.
- Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, headache, and a persistent dry cough.
- Severe side effects may include swelling, difficulty breathing, fainting, and changes in kidney function or electrolyte levels.
