KSh 1,500.00

Ena-Denk 20mg Tablets contain 20mg of Enalapril Maleate, an ACE inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure and certain heart conditions. It works by blocking the ACE enzyme, which relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, improves circulation, and reduces the heart’s workload. This medication is often part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes lifestyle changes and other medications for effective blood pressure and heart health management.

Anti-Hypertensives

Suggested Use

Ena-Denk 20mg Tablets are prescribed for:

  1. Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  2. Heart failure (as part of a combination therapy)
  3. Prevention of symptomatic heart failure in patients with asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction

Dosage: Always follow the prescribing physician’s dosage instructions.

Warning

  • Monitor blood pressure closely, especially after the first dose, as significant drops may occur, particularly in patients with heart failure or high blood pressure.
  • Enalapril may affect kidney function, especially in patients with kidney disorders or those taking diuretics. Regular monitoring of kidney function is advised.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy (especially in the second and third trimesters) and should not be used while breastfeeding.
  • Rarely, Enalapril can cause angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, throat, or intestines). Discontinue use immediately if this occurs and seek medical attention.
  • This medication may cause changes in potassium levels, especially in those with kidney issues or those using potassium-sparing diuretics. Monitoring is recommended.
  • Persistent dry cough may occur as a side effect. Consult a physician if this becomes bothersome.
  • Inform your doctor of any history of heart, liver, or kidney disease.
  • Avoid use with medications containing aliskiren, especially in diabetic patients.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol intake as it can further lower blood pressure and increase the risk of side effects.
  • Common side effects include dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea, and cough.
  • Serious but rare side effects may include allergic reactions, low blood pressure, high potassium levels, and liver dysfunction.
