Diflucan 200mg Capsules are used to treat a wide range of fungal infections. They inhibit the growth of fungi by disrupting their cell membrane formation. They are commonly prescribed for systemic fungal infections and certain mucosal yeast infections. Active Substance: Fluconazole 200mg.

Suggested Use
Diflucan 200mg is prescribed for:
- Treatment of candidiasis (oral, esophageal, and vaginal).
- Management of cryptococcal meningitis in immunocompromised patients.
- Treatment of coccidioidomycosis and other systemic fungal infections.
- Prophylaxis against fungal infections in immunocompromised individuals.
Dosage:
The typical dosage for adults may vary based on the specific infection being treated:
- Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis: 200 mg on the first day, followed by 100 mg once daily
- Systemic Candida infections: 400 mg on the first day, followed by 200 mg once daily
- Cryptococcal meningitis: 200 mg on the first day, followed by 100 mg once daily.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to fluconazole or other azole antifungals.
- Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, heart rhythm disorders, or electrolyte imbalances.
- Fluconazole may interact with anticoagulants, certain antihistamines, oral contraceptives, and medications metabolized by the liver.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a doctor before use. Prolonged or high-dose treatment may not be recommended during pregnancy.
- Side Effects:
- Common: Nausea, headache, stomach pain, diarrhoea.
- Severe (rare): Liver toxicity, severe skin reactions, irregular heartbeat. Seek medical attention if these occur.
- Avoid alcohol to prevent additional liver strain.
