Dermovate 0.05% Ointment relieves inflammation, redness, and itching linked to several skin disorders. The active substance, clobetasol propionate, helps to lower the immune response in the skin, making it easier to control symptoms of allergic and inflammatory skin conditions.
Topical Corticosteroids
Suggested Use
Dermovate 0.05% Ointment is commonly used to treat severe inflammatory skin disorders, including:
- Psoriasis (except widespread plaque psoriasis)
- Eczema
- Lichen planus
- Discoid lupus erythematosus
- Other inflammatory skin conditions that do not respond to less potent steroids.
Adults and children over 1 year: Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by a healthcare provider. Treatment duration is usually limited to 2-4 weeks. If longer treatment is required, the doctor may recommend reducing the frequency of application.
Warning
- Prolonged use of potent corticosteroids like Dermovate may result in skin thinning and systemic side effects.
- Avoid applying to open wounds, ulcers, or infected areas unless advised by a healthcare professional.
- Not suitable for the face, groin, or armpits: Avoid application in sensitive areas, as these are more prone to steroid-induced side effects.
- Consult your doctor before using Dermovate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are using to prevent interactions.
Possible Side Effects:
- Localized skin irritation (redness, burning, itching)
- Skin thinning
- Stretch marks
- Acne or folliculitis
