Dalacin C 150mg Capsules contain clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic that treats various bacterial infections by inhibiting protein production in bacteria, thereby halting their growth and spread. It is often prescribed for patients allergic to penicillin or when other antibiotics are ineffective.

Suggested Use
Dalacin C is commonly used to treat serious infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain aerobic bacteria. These include:
- Respiratory tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Septicemia and endocarditis (as part of combination therapy)
Adults and adolescents: 150 to 450 mg every 6 hours, depending on the severity of the infection. Therapy duration depends on the infection’s type and severity. The capsules should be taken with a full glass of water to prevent irritation of the oesophagus.
Warning
- Do not use if allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin.
- Clindamycin can cause severe, possibly life-threatening colitis. Discontinue immediately and consult a healthcare provider if severe diarrhoea occurs.
- Dose adjustments may be required.
- The elderly population is more prone to clindamycin’s gastrointestinal side effects.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use only if necessary and under medical supervision.
- Avoid combining with erythromycin (antagonistic effect) and neuromuscular blocking agents (potentiates effects).
- Common side effects include gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea), skin rash, and abdominal pain. Seek medical attention for severe adverse effects, particularly persistent diarrhoea or allergic reactions.
