Claricos Suspension 125mg is an antibiotic that’s used to treat bacterial infections in children aged 6 months to 12 years. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It’s pleasant-tasting, thus suitable for children who may find tablets difficult to swallow. Active Substance: Clarithromycin 125 mg per 5 ml.

Suggested Use

Claricos Suspension is indicated for the treatment of:

  1. Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., pharyngitis, sinusitis)
  2. Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)
  3. Skin and soft tissue infections (e.g., cellulitis, impetigo)
  4. Ear infections (e.g., acute otitis media)
Dosage:

The dosage of Claricos Suspension depends on the child’s weight and the severity of the infection. The typical dosage is:

  • Children weighing 8-11 kg: 2.5ml twice daily
  • Children weighing 12-19 kg: 5ml twice daily
  • Children weighing 20-29 kg: 7.5ml twice daily
  • Children weighing 30-40 kg: 10ml twice daily

Warning

  • Do not use if the child is allergic to Clarithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics (e.g., Erythromycin, Azithromycin), or any of the ingredients.
  • Use with caution in children with impaired liver or kidney function.
  • Inform the doctor if the child is taking other medications, including warfarin, theophylline, or
  • Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. Rarely, severe allergic reactions, liver problems, or prolonged QT interval may occur.
  • Ensure the full course of antibiotics is completed to prevent bacterial resistance, even if symptoms improve early.
  • Store the suspension in a cool, dry place below 25 °C. Use within 14 days after reconstitution and discard any remaining suspension.
