Cetirizine is indicated for the management of cold or allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, watery eyes, or runny nose. It is also effective in treating allergic reactions, itching, and swelling due to chronic urticaria (hives), and in reducing symptoms of perennial allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, allergic asthma, physical urticaria, and atopic dermatitis. The usual dose for adults under 65 years old and children aged 6 years and older is one 10-milligram (mg) tablet daily. It is important not to exceed 10 mg within a 24-hour period. In cases of mild allergies, your doctor may recommend a 5-mg dose once or twice daily.
