Bactigras functions as a medicated tulle gras dressing that is saturated with paraffin and 0.5% chlorhexidine acetate. This dressing acts as a barrier between the wound and a secondary dressing, allowing wound exudate to be absorbed by the secondary dressing. The chlorhexidine acetate serves as an antiseptic agent, slowly releasing to provide sustained protection against a variety of bacteria. The active component in Bactigras is Chlorhexidine Acetate, which effectively inhibits the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.
Wound Dressing
Why You'll Love It
Bactigras is indicated for a variety of wounds at risk of infection, or for infected wounds in combination with systemic antibiotics. These wounds may include minor burns, lacerations, abrasions, donor and recipient graft sites. Dressings can be changed daily for adults and children, with the frequency of application determined by clinical needs (typically every 2 to 4 days). The dressing is primarily recommended for wounds covering up to 15% of the body area in adults, and up to 10% in children.

Warning
It is important to note that Bactigras should not be applied to more than 10% of the body area. While rare, there is a possibility of experiencing dermatitis, contact sensitivity, or photosensitivity. Although anaphylactic reactions to chlorhexidine have been reported, they are uncommon. It is crucial to avoid any contact with the eyes, middle ear, meninges, and brain.
