Aciclovir 200mg Dispersible Tablets are an antiviral medication used to treat infections caused by herpes viruses. These tablets dissolve in water, making them easier to take. Active Substance: Aciclovir 200mg per tablet.

Suggested Use
Aciclovir 200mg Dispersible Tablets are used to treat:
- Herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes, such as cold sores and genital herpes.
- Chickenpox (varicella infection) and shingles (herpes zoster infection).
- Preventing recurrent attacks of herpes simplex infections.
Dosage:
Adults and Adolescents (12 years and older):
- Herpes simplex infections: 200mg five times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals (excluding night-time) for 5–10 days.
- Prevention of recurrent herpes simplex infections: 200mg four times a day or 400mg twice a day.
- Chickenpox and shingles: 800mg five times daily for 7 days.
Children (under 12 years):
- Chickenpox:
- 6 years and older: 800mg four times daily for 5 days.
- 2 to 5 years: 400mg four times daily for 5 days.
- Under 2 years: 200mg four times daily for 5 days.
Elderly and Renal Impairment:
- Dose adjustments may be required. Ensure adequate hydration to minimize the risk of kidney damage.
Note: Tablets should be dispersed in water before administration or swallowed whole with water.
Warning
- Hydration: Maintain adequate hydration during treatment to prevent kidney damage.
- Allergies: Do not use if allergic to aciclovir or any of its ingredients.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use only if prescribed by a doctor, as aciclovir passes into breast milk.
- Immunocompromised Patients: Consult a healthcare provider for appropriate dose adjustments.
- Kidney Impairment: Dose adjustments are necessary for patients with renal dysfunction.
- Neurological Effects: Rarely, aciclovir can cause dizziness or confusion. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. Contact a healthcare professional if serious side effects occur, such as allergic reactions or signs of kidney problems.
